Precision in Logistics: Laser Scanning for new AutoStore install

In a strategic move to bolster its global distribution network, CooperVision is currently undertaking a comprehensive facility upgrade at its Delta Park site. Central to this capital project is the planned integration of an AutoStore system - a sophisticated, high density robotic solution designed to significantly enhance logistical throughput and order fulfilment capabilities.
To ensure the seamless integration of this advanced automation into the existing warehouse fabric, Nirray Surveys has been commissioned to execute a high precision 3D Laser Scan and Measured Building Survey.

This digital mapping is a critical prerequisite for the project, providing the millimetre accurate data necessary to:
Optimise Spatial Configuration: Ensuring the AutoStore grid is engineered to fit the specific physical constraints of the Delta Park footprint.
Mitigate Structural Risk: Identifying potential clashes with existing services or structural elements during the design phase to prevent costly onsite adaptations.
Facilitate Data Driven Design: Providing a comprehensive "as built" digital twin that serves as the single source of truth for the project engineering team.

The 3D point cloud data provided by Nirray Surveys acts as a "digital twin" of the Delta Park facility. Unlike traditional 2D plans, which may be outdated or omit overhead obstructions, the point cloud captures millions of individual coordinate points to create a centimetre-perfect mathematical model of the existing environment.

AutoStore systems rely on vertical stacking. The point cloud identifies the exact height of the lowest hanging obstructions, such as HVAC ducting, cable trays, or structural haunches.
By providing this data, you have moved the project from "best-guess" planning to Verified Data-Driven Design. This eliminates the risk of finding a structural obstruction halfway through the installation, ensuring the Delta Park upgrade remains on schedule and within budget.
